Elder Robert Yu is married with 3 grown up children: two of whom follow Christ. He is praying for the salvation of his third. He likes to golf, travel, cook and watch TV dramas. He has served as a Sunday School Teacher for the children aged 10 to 12 years old, a Bible study leader for the teens, as well as preached in both the youth service and in the main congregation. In his terms as an elder, he has also served as the Christian Education Convener, the Chairman of the Board of Management and the Session Clerk.
At present, his only role of service is to be a member of the EP Ex-Co. His philosophy of ministry is to make himself available to follow where God leads -- in this case, God has led him to the EP Ex-Co.
Robert learnt about the Christian God in the Roman Catholic Mission school which he attended though was not converted then. After years of trying to be good, he only accepted Christ as LORD one day in 1982 when he realised that he would never be good enough if not for God’s grace through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). The penny dropped when these two Bible verses were highlighted and explained to him by a colleague who was then an elder in his church.
It has been 39 years since Robert followed Jesus, and indeed He and He only is good.
