READ ISAIAH 11:1 - 10

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,   and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together;    and a little child shall lead them.

They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain;for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

(Isaiah 11: 6, 9)

Advent is a time of waiting. We anticipate Jesus’ birth and His second coming when His kingdom of peace will be fully realised.

Isaiah 11:6 shows the beauty of this peaceful reign. The wolf and the lamb co-exist, predators and prey live together in harmony. Those who were aggressive, and those who are helpless, now live together in peace. A little child leads the animals and there is absolute tranquillity. This is a picture of trust and peace.

Isaiah 11:9 further assures us of the reign of peace in God’s presence. No harm or destruction exists. People will know and understand God's character, will, and ways. This true knowledge of the Lord will transform hearts and minds, leading to a world of peace and harmony. Christ will bring a reign of peace.

As we celebrate Advent, we are reminded that Jesus is the fulfilment of God’s plan. He brought God's peace to earth, and He is coming again to complete His kingdom of peace.

So, how can we bring this vision of a future kingdom of peace into our Advent celebration and daily lives? How can God's peace shape us and shine through us?

  • Embrace Christ’s peace. Let His peace rule in your heart and mind.

  • Reflect on the knowledge of God. Share the knowledge of God’s love and peace with family and friends this Advent.

  • Anticipate Christ’s return. Live with an Advent mindset, eagerly awaiting His return and be prepared to give an account of your life.

As we do, may we let God change our thoughts and actions, impact communities in a positive way.

Reflective Questions:

  • Where in your life do you struggle to experience peace? How can you give this struggle to Jesus?

  • How can you bring peace to your home, community and world?

  • How can you allow peace to transform you and grow in your daily life, even in challenging times?

Prayer:

End today’s reflection with a prayer to Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace.
